Dermaplaning is the process of using a scrapping method to strip away dead skin cells and thin facial hairs for a soft, smooth, youthful appearance.
When skin treatments, like facials and microdermabrasion, are no longer giving you the results you desire, but you aren't ready to seek lasers or a more invasive procedure, you may be a candidate for dermaplaning. Dermaplaning is an innovative skin treatment and facial rejuvenation technique that smooths your skin by stripping away dead skin cells and thin facial hair for a softer, more radiant complexion. Sometimes called dermablading, this procedure is performed with a special tool and careful scraping techniques. Our team of licensed aestheticians is pleased to offer dermaplaning skin treatments at iContour Anti-Aging Center. Dermaplaning is requested more these days because while it is noninvasive, it is able to provide younger-looking, smoother, stunning skin. For more information, contact our Boston, MA office today.
Dermaplaning procedures are typically performed in our comfortable office as an outpatient procedure. After your skin is cleaned, the treatment will begin with a gentle skimming of the surface of the face with a safe and effective facial blade. Your technician will scrape the treatment area many times until the face has been evenly treated. The amount of time needed will depend upon whether part of or the full face is being addressed and the condition of your skin. We will carefully explain the process so you know what to expect ahead of time. Following your treatment, your skin will be slightly pinkish. This is normal and will fade in a few days. It's common for small amounts of peeling to occur as the skin heals, but it's important not to scratch or peel as this could cause scarring. You should avoid prolonged exposure to the sun as your skin will be very sensitive in the days following your treatment. Expect to see results quickly as dermaplaning reveals smoother, softer skin right away.
How much does a dermaplaning treatment cost?
Costs for dermaplaning depend on a number of factors, including your treatment plan, the number of sessions needed, facility fees, and if you want to add other skin care procedures. When we've created your custom dermaplaning plan, we can estimate your costs. iContour Anti-Aging Center has frequent specials and package plans you can ask about during your consultation.
Does dermaplaning hurt?
No, it doesn't. Most patients don't report any discomfort during their dermaplaning procedure. Dermaplaning is a noninvasive procedure that only targets the topmost layer of skin to scrape away dead, damaged skin cells to achieve healthier skin and a rejuvenated look.
How is dermaplaning good for the skin?
Dermaplaning clears away the dead and damaged skin cells along with trapped dirt and bacteria while promoting new collagen and elastin production. This gives you a fresher, renewed look to your skin without the associated downtime of a more invasive procedure.
Does dermaplaning make hair grow back thicker?
No, it doesn't. It is a common misconception that dermaplaning can make your peach fuzz hair grow back thicker, but it doesn't interfere with the normal hair growth process or make hair grow back thicker.
How often should I get a dermaplaning procedure?
Most patients will need a maintenance treatment every 4 – 6 weeks to maintain their results.
